ROTI : A gripping Psychological thriller about loss, grief and reincarnation.

Child loss is not an event, it is an indescribable journey of survival. This sentence rightly captures the story line of ‘ROTI, the latest feature from Kunle Afolayan.

ROTI tells the unnerving tale of a couple Kabir (Kunle Afolayan) and Diane (Kate Henshaw) battling with the loss of their only son (Darimisire Afolayan).

A few years later when it seems the couple have moved on with life, Diane is presented with a glimpse of hope when she comes across a boy named Juwon, who bears an uncanny resemblance with her dead son.

This symbols the beginning of another tortious journey for Kabir and Diane.

Kate gave a compelling and mind blowing performance with her character Diane. This is definitely going down as one of her most captivating performance in her career. Kunle himself must have been blown away by Kate’s performance on set. He made the right choice casting her for this movie.

Every ones in a while, directors are known to want to also get in front of the camera for one reason or the other, let’s agree that Kunle is perfectly fine just behind the camera.

The cinematography was nothing short of brilliant and pleasing to the eye. What more could you expect when no other than Yinka Edwards was in charge.

Faithia Balogun and Toyin Oshinaike who play the role of Juwon’s parent equally give an impressive performance. They prove to us that like old wine they get better by the day.

While addressing a press conference, Kunle had this to say about ‘Roti. ‘’Roti is a story I did for people to watch, think about and take their own bits from and discuss it, it is not a film that is all about entertainment but one that will raise curiosity’’.

Reincarnation is a subject matter that has been explored severally in Nollywood, Roti however brings in a new dimension to this matter which is definitely going to raise some curiosity from the viewers.

The film is riveting, captivating and definitely a must see when it hit cinemas
